The following pictures were taken during a tour of South Africa in Cape Town in October 2003. For your reference, District 6 was a black neighborhood in Cape Town that was razed in 1974 under the apartheid laws to create space for white residents and businesses. The black residents were given very little notice before they were evicted. Nazareth House is hospice for children with AIDS. The sisters of Nazareth House serve approximately 160 children. Some children live at the house, others come and go but live with family members in the area. The community relies on Nazareth House for health care for the children as well as for emotional support for family members.
